South Africa

South Africa is well known for its production of two important herbal teas; rooibos and honeybush. Both are grown exclusively in the Western Cape area in a small belt of natural shrubland called the fynbos. Similar to each other in some ways but with unique characteristics, both are caffeine-free, and after harvest are processed similarly to true tea with oxidation and drying. Their usefulness for multiple health conditions, along with being an excellent substitute for black tea, make them popular world-wide.
