Kava Kava
Traditionally enjoyed by Pacific Islanders as a part of ceremony and celebration, kava kava offers an extraordinarily relaxing infusion. The root contains compounds known as kavalactones that produce mild psychoactive as well as sedative, muscle relaxant, and diuretic effects. These compounds are released when steeped, brewing into a complex, savory and slightly bitter concoction with distinct flavors of bark and tossed earth, a hint of cinnamon and the peculiarly pleasant sensation of numbing on the tongue. Can be enjoyed hot or poured over ice for imaginative non-alcoholic kava cocktails.
